How To Setup an Orbit Digital Timer

The Orbit Digital Timer (our item #TM4) is versatile and very easy to setup. Here's how...

The MODE/NEXT button on the left selects the function - SET or AUTO or SET MANUAL or OFF or DELAY. Keep clicking until the correct function flashes.

The two +- buttons in the middle change values such as time or number of minutes.

The CONFIRM button on the right accepts changes to the program and advances to the next drip irrigation function. Digital timers can also be used as sprinkler timers.

Please note - if you hesitate more than one minute between steps, the timer automatically reverts to the AUTO mode and you will have to start the setup from the beginning.

Setup date, time and watering days

Let's begin by selecting the current day of the week ... Click MODE/NEXT until the word SET is flashing then click CONFIRM.

Use the +- buttons to select the current day of the week. Click CONFIRM to accept date.

Use the +- buttons to change to the correct time of day and PM or AM. Hold the buttons down to go fast. Click CONFIRM to accept time of day.

Use the +- buttons to select the days of the week you wish to water. As you select each day, press CONFIRM to toggle between non watering (no drop showing) and watering (drop showing).

You may instead choose to water every second day (2nd) or every third day (3rd) by choosing that option and clicking the CONFIRM button, rather than choosing each day of the week individually.

Click on MODE/NEXT to accept the watering days. Now you can set the duration of drip irrigation watering.

The multi-station timer TM5 is set up the same way except that there are multiple stations.

Set watering duration

Use the +- buttons to set the duration of watering in minutes (from 1 to 99 minutes) and click CONFIRM when you are ready.

Set Cycle A

You can set up to three watering times each day. The name of each of three cycles is to the left on the screen. Use the +- buttons to set the time of day for cycle A and AM or PM. Hold the button down to go fast. Click CONFIRM when ready.

Set Cycle B and C

If you wish to use a second or third cycle each day, set the time now. Otherwise leave the blank line and click CONFIRM to proceed past each cycle.

Congratulations!! - your settings are done and you are back to the first screen with SET flashing.

If you do nothing for one minute, the timer reverts to AUTO mode and your programmed setup starts to work ...or click MODE/NEXT until AUTO is flashing and click CONFIRM to start.

Checking your setup

Anytime you wish to check the settings or edit them, step through the entire SET program described above for irrigation supplies.

Hint - Remember to click on MODE/NEXT when the watering duration settings are correct. Every other step uses the CONFIRM button.

Turn on Manually

To manually turn on the water at any time, click on MODE/NEXT until SET MANUAL is flashing. Click on CONFIRM and set the number of minutes with the +- buttons. Click CONFIRM again to start watering. The timer will revert to your AUTO settings when the manual cycle is finished.

To cancel the manual mode at any time, click on both +- buttons at the same time. Timers are important irrigation supplies.

Turn off timer

To turn off all AUTO and manual setups, click MODE/NEXT until OFF flashes. Click CONFIRM to shut the timer down.

To start the timer up again, click MODE/NEXT until AUTO flashes and click CONFIRM.

To delay watering

If you wish to delay the AUTO watering cycle for any reason, click MODE/NEXT until DELAY is flashing. Click CONFIRM and set the number of minutes of the delay using the +- buttons. Click CONFIRM again to start the delay. The screen will show the time left of the delay.

To cancel the delay, press both +- buttons at the same time.

If the setup does not operate correctly, change the batteries. Usually a fresh set of batteries will last the entire summer season.
